a stream of water with fireflies flying in the sky

The Westmoreland Conservatory is delighted to invite families and community members to a captivating “Enchanted Evening Firefly Walk” on Saturday, July 27, at 8:30 PM. This enchanting event promises an evening of wonder and natural beauty as participants immerse themselves in the magic of fireflies and other night-time marvels along the Universal Pedestrian Trail.

A Family-Friendly Stroll Amidst Nature’s Light Show

As twilight falls, the Universal Pedestrian Trailhead Kiosk will serve as the gathering point for this delightful summer evening walk. Participants will embark on a scenic journey along the trail, leading to the pond and around the fields, where the magic of the fireflies will be in full display. These tiny, glowing insects create a mesmerizing light show that captivates both young and old alike. Attendees are encouraged to marvel at the fireflies’ luminescence rather than catch them, preserving the natural beauty of this unique experience.

An Evening of Enchantment and Exploration

The Enchanted Evening Firefly Walk is not just about observing fireflies. The trail is known for its serene ambiance and picturesque views, which often hide other magical sights waiting to be discovered. With a crescent moon lighting the way, participants may catch glimpses of nocturnal wildlife and the ethereal glow of fairies mingling among the fireflies, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the evening.

A Celestial Finale: The Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower

Following the firefly walk, attendees will convene at the lower parking lot for a “Star Party” to witness the Delta Aquarids meteor shower. This celestial event provides a perfect conclusion to the evening’s festivities, as meteors streak across the night sky, creating a breathtaking spectacle. The meteor shower will be visible to the naked eye, offering a fantastic opportunity for stargazing and astronomical wonder.
