Seal Coating Project Set to Begin in Washington Township

Washington Township, Westmoreland County, PA – The Washington Township Public Works Department has announced that a seal coating project is tentatively scheduled to commence on Monday, July 15th, weather permitting. The project, which aims to enhance the longevity and quality of various township roads, is expected to last approximately four days. Residents are advised to anticipate short delays during this period.

Roads to be Seal Coated

The following roads are slated for seal coating:

  • Pleasant View Drive
  • Poke Run Church Road
  • Young Drive
  • George Road
  • Evans Road (3720 feet from George)
  • Pfeffer Road
  • Pfeffer Road Extension
  • Paradise Drive
  • Martin Drive
  • Echo Ridge Road
  • Woodland Park Drive
  • Exton Lake Road
  • Sportsman Drive
  • Grange Drive
  • Watt Road
  • Utopia Road
  • Yockey Road
  • Shaner Acres Drive

Schedule and Traffic Impact

The seal coating process is planned to take four days, contingent upon favorable weather conditions. Short delays are expected as crews work on the roads. Following the seal coating, a fog sealing operation will be conducted the following week, which is also dependent on the weather. The fog sealing is estimated to take seven days to complete.

Important Notes for Residents

  • Emergency Access: Emergency vehicles will always have access to all roads during the project.
  • Driving Tips: To prevent damage to the freshly treated roads, residents are advised not to turn the steering wheel while the vehicle is stationary. Only turn the steering wheel when the vehicle is in motion. Additionally, avoid spinning tires and making rapid stops. These practices not only help in preserving the road surface but also extend the life of tires and vehicles.
